Transpower Substation

Clelands completed the seismic strengthening and refurbishment of Transpower’s substation. As part of New Zealand’s national power grid, this facility plays a vital role in keeping electricity flowing to the Taranaki region. The project focused on ensuring the substation can continue to operate safely and reliably in the event of an earthquake.

Engaged as head contractor, Clelands managed the complex strengthening and refurbishment works while maintaining full site safety and operational continuity. We worked in close collaboration with Transpower, WSP engineers, and architectural consultants to achieve a resilient and durable outcome.

From the outset, Clelands demonstrated a professional and well-organised approach. Their team took the time to understand the site conditions, programme pressures, and sequencing requirements, and worked closely with us to plan and deliver the works safely and efficiently. Site management was proactive and engaged, and communication remained consistent and clear throughout.
