Toi Foundation – Toitū House

Clelands Construction completed the redevelopment of an existing building at 121 Gill Street, New Plymouth, transforming it into Toitū House, the new home of Toi Foundation. This project was much more than a refurb, Clelands led a full building transformation, including seismic strengthening and a complete interior upgrade and fit‑out, creating a versatile, welcoming hub for community, collaboration, and inclusion.

Clelands transformed the existing structure into a modern community space, completing the project on time, to a consistently high standard, and with careful attention to budget. Their professionalism and collaborative approach were key to the project’s success and widely acknowledged by the client.

Toitū House now serves as more than just an office. It’s a purpose-built community hub, with flexible spaces upstairs for team hui and mahi, and Toitū Te Huatahi, a welcoming ground‑floor gathering place for community groups, not-for-profits, and kaupapa-driven organisations. Designed in partnership with Ngāti Te Whiti, mana whenua gifted the building’s name and guided the cultural narrative woven into its spaces, ensuring Toitū House reflects the identity and aspirations of Taranaki.

From the outset, Clelands demonstrated an outstanding commitment… They consistently delivered high-quality results, meeting all deadlines... Their professionalism and willingness to go above and beyond contributed to a positive working relationship… Clelands also demonstrates a strong commitment to engaging and collaborating with the wider Taranaki community.
