Ngāmotu Marae Stage 1
Clelands was engaged to deliver the Stage 1 infrastructure and civil works package for the Ngāmotu Marae development on Bayly Road, New Plymouth. This stage focused on preparing the site and establishing the essential infrastructure required to support the future wharenui, wharekai, offices, ablutions and associated community spaces. Working alongside Ngāti Te Whiti Whenua Tōpū Trust and the wider project team, the project involved complex earthworks, underground services, access infrastructure, retaining structures and environmental management measures within a culturally significant site.
The works formed the foundation for the wider marae development, delivering the site access, utility services and supporting infrastructure required to enable future construction stages. As the first phase of the project, Stage 1 established the platform from which the wider vision for Ngāmotu Marae can be realised.
Close collaboration between mana whenua, consultants, designers and specialist advisors ensured the project was delivered safely and efficiently, while respecting the cultural and environmental values of the site.
The project reflects Clelands' ability to deliver complex civil infrastructure works while balancing technical requirements, environmental stewardship and meaningful stakeholder engagement.
